Accreditation and standardization of distance education


Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

KTH is a leading technical university in Sweden and Northern Europe. The Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan), KTH, is responsible for one-third of Sweden's capacity for engineering studies and technical research at post-secondary level. Our university has over 11,000 undergraduate students, 1,500 active postgraduate students and a staff of 3,100 people.

It was founded in 1827 and is the largest of Sweden?s universities of technology. KTH is an international institution with established research and educational exchanges all over the world, especially in Europe, the USA, Australia and Southeast Asia. Cooperation schemes with the Baltic States and Russia are on the increase. It is KTH's ambition to play an even stronger role in the EU research programmes than today. Various joint efforts with the Swedish International Development Agency and other development bodies abroad are also part of our international programme.


Academy of Distance Education, Ukraine

Academy of Distance Education is a registered NGO formed by leading educational institutions and organization, which work in the sphere of distance education in Ukraine. The strategic goals of Academy are:
- Developing an adequate world outlook concerning education that is in accordance with the requirements demanded of a contemporary information society, and popularization and propagation of the idea of an open education;
- Introduction of distance learning technologies into educational practice;
- Development of a qualitative new educational environment that is more effective, economical, and results in a modern phase of State development.

There are about 18.000 academic staff and more than 250.000 students and postgraduates are studied in ADE member institutions. One of the founders of ADE is Ukraine Global Development Learning Network Center (it was inaugurated on March 2, 2001), which is the first GDLN center in the region of Europe and Central Asia was constructed under initiative of the World Bank.


Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine

Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is the central body of the government executive power performing the management in the area of education. The Department for Licensing, Accreditation and Nostrification, which is represented in this project by Dr.Volodymyr Domnich is the main institution working in Ukraine with the issues related to quality of higher education.


Swedish National Agency for Higher Education, Sweden

The National Agency for Higher Education is the central agency that deals with issues affecting universities and higher education institutions in Sweden. The Agency conducts quality audits of higher education, exercises supervision of the higher education institutions, reviews and analyses the higher education system, evaluates qualifications awarded abroad, supports educational innovation and development and also provides information on higher education and encourages student recruitment. The aim of assessments of the right to award degrees Masters and Bachelors degrees, as well as vocational qualifications is to assess an institution's quality and its standard of education and research.
